1934 Tripolitania 80 centesimi stamp Mouse Pads
1934 Italian Tripolitania 80 centesimi Air Mail stamp depicting Libyan soldiers serving in the Camel Corp viewing an airplane transporting mail. The stamp issued during the time period of Italian control of modern day Libya. Tripolitania's history includes settlement and occupation by Phoenicians, Romans, Vandals, Arabs, the Byzantine Empire and the Ottoman Empire. The region was captured by the Italians after the 1911 Turko-Italian war. After WWII, Libya came under UN Trusteeship administered by the United Kingdom and France in 1947. In 1949 the United Nations passed a resolution that Libya should become independent before 1952 which was followed by establishment of the Kingdom of Libya in 1951.
