Before iPods, but oddly in the time when personal stereos were popular, it was still quite a normal thing to see someone walking around carrying a large stereo system and belting out music regardless of where they were. In the streets, parks and on public transport, boomboxes or ghetto blasters were everywhere. At picnics, around the pool on holiday, they just couldn't be avoided. Were people less self-aware back then? Maybe. Brashness was certainly seen as a postive character trait during the Eighties. Even the advertising for boomboxes would base the quality of a product based on how far down the street it could be heard. Anyway, they were still good bits of kit, and many were well-made enough to still be in service today. This design celebrates the boom box and also gives you a great retro look for those times when you'd rather not be just the same as everyone else in the crowd.
