This Legion was raised by Caesar in 49 BC in preparation for the Civil War. It served under him in at Dyrrachium, and in Spain at the Battles of Thapsus and Munda. During Caesar's time in Alexandria, the Legion fell out of Caesar's favor for a time and was relegated to guard duty. By the time of the Battle of Utica in 46, the Legion had regained their status, and fought in the center of Caesar's lines. After Zama, it was sent to Syria to prepare for Caesar's planned massive Parthian Campaign. Nothing more is known about it.
