Steam punk is a sub genre of science fiction. Every artist and writer often puts their own spin on it though so it is an extremely diverse genre. Steam punk is filled with steam powered engines, often clock works, a lot of Victorian influences and even air ships and zeppelins. You'll find steam punk pirates, alchemists, machinists, aristocrats it's great. Like I said there is no set laws to it so each artist normally takes their own direction into it you should look into it sometime it's become a whole subculture of it's own.
