Halloween or Halloween (without determinant) is a festival which proceeds in the night of October 31st. This festival is celebrated mainly in Ireland, in Canada, in Australia, in Great Britain and in the United States. The most known tradition wants that the children disguise themselves with costumes which make fear or which make laugh (phantom, witch, monsters, vampires for example) and will sound with the doors while requiring of the adults, often themselves disguised, of candies, the fruits or the money with the formula: Trick gold treat! (“Joke or delicacy! ”) or simply “Happy Halloween! ”. Other activities include masked balls, the film watching of horror, the visit of “haunted” houses, etc
Halloween is a Anglo-Saxon folk festival, to which some lend a Celtic origin, based on the calendar concomitance of November 1st, period of the ancient Celtic religious holiday of Samain. This tradition was transported to North America at the 19th century by the Irishmen, the Scot and other immigrants.
The principal symbol of Halloween is the pumpkin resulting from the Irish legend of Jack-o'-lantern: is cut out it to draw there, in hollow, a face, then one places a candle in his center.
