A New Fireboat for New York Print by spfino

I found this old photo while I was trying to identify the fireboat in my Old Castle Garden poster. It was in very poor condition--covered with bright white dots, like picture acne. I cleaned it up in my usual compulsive style. My guess is that this is fireboat Cornelius W. Lawrence. Of course I'm open to correction from those who actually know something about fireboats. I'm pretty sure that this photo was taken on the day the boat was accepted into service in the NYFD. Note the celebrity look-alikes among the stuffed shirts on the shore. See if you can find: John Steed of the Avengers; Bat Masterson; Stan Laurel (the back of his head); and Colonel Sanders. The firefighters on the boat look exactly like the firefighters of today except for a change in helmet. And it's a good thing the helmet style was changed. The old style pointed style looked--dare I say it--French.
