Abbey Maulbronn, Tower of Dr. Faust Tote bag by editionha

Plein air charcoal drawing of the famous Tower of Faust. An alchemist who according to the tale was requested by the prior of the cistercian monastery of Maulbronn to produce gold. Faust lived in the tower and used it also as laboratory at the beginning of the 16th century. To achieve this he made a contract with the devil. Faust was clever enough to cheat the devil by catching him in a pentagram that can be seen on the floor of the chamber in the tower together with an alleged blood stain.
