He was court painter to Philip V and also was a highly respected art appraiser. This work was one of four allegories of the elements, Earth, Air, Fire and Water, for Palacio del Buen Retiro. The artist died in 1733. This work is 160 cm wide and 248 cm high and is in the Museo del Prado in Madrid.
