Alphonse Mucha Gismonda stickers. Lithograph poster from 1894. Generally considered one of the foundational works of the Art Nouveau movement, Alphonse Mucha’s Gismonda first appeared in Paris in 1895 promoting Victroien Sardou’s play starring French actress Sarah Bernhardt. The poster features the actress holding a palm leaf decked out in an elegant gold and white royal robe with exotic pink flowers in her red hair. The title of the play appears at the top of the poster and the theatre appears at the bottom, both ornately decorated in the style that would typify much of Mucha’s commercial work. A great gift for fans of Mucha, art nouveau, and vintage theatre posters.
