Twenty six were built by General Electric Company, Erie, PA, from 1974-1976. They were rated at 6,000 Horsepower, and their Weight was 183 tons.. The Original cost was $692,000 each They were designed for 120 MPH passenger service on The Northeast Corridor but never ran that fast due to tracking problems. They are no longer in service. From this Angle you can see why the nick name of the E60 is “The Brick” . You can see an E-60 at The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.
