Reproduced from a hand colored lithograph by J.D. L. Franz Wagner from the 19th Century book "Dr. Wilhelm Peters' Natural History Trip to Mozambique." Dr. Wilhelm Peters (1815-1883) was a well known German naturalist who became the director of the Berlin Zoological Museum. In September 1842 Dr. Peters set off aboard a Portuguese convict ship first to Angola and eventually to Mozambique where he arrived in June 1843. He was the first scientist to document many species in the region. See the matching card!
