Back in '99, my husband and I were fortunate to go to Aruba. While there, I saw several iguanas and various tropical birds in the garden/pool areas near our hotel. I spent a few hours one afternoon and sketched this toucan as he sat in a large cage. Found this old piece while going through old sketchbooks the other day; and, being I had never liked the background, re-did that portion in Photoshop to give it a little more pizzaz and energy behind the toucan. The actual toucan itself was done with Prismacolor colored pencil. The "Think Tropical" was begging to be added in the negative space, giving this piece more of a graphic design feel.
