The name Aztec was given by the invading Spaniards, the original name of the people that inhabited Tenochtitlan, modern day Mexico City, was the Mexica. The Mexica gave Mexico it's name. The calendar consisted of a 365 day calendar cycle and a 260 day ritual cycle. Every month had a name, and the days and there were twenty days to a month. The days of the last month, Nemontemi, the dead days, were numbered from one to five.
