The second of several adaptations coming out of a humorous print from an 1881 Italian illustrated periodical, Rana Giornale. The frogs are dressed in street clothes climbing out of a packing crate carrying New Year's greetings on strips of paper, while a well-dressed woman watches. In the background, a frog sits on top of the highest pyramid of Egypt watching the frogs wave from their balloon.
At 481 feet high, Khufu, the Great Pyramid of Giza, ranked as the tallest structure on Earth for more than 43 centuries Due primarily to advances in construction technologies and techniques, the pyramid quickly lost its ranking in the 19th century. In 1889 French engineer Alexandre Gustave Eiffel designed and built the 1,056-foot high Eiffel Tower for the Paris World Exposition. Numerous photographs were taken from balloons flying over the tower during that event.
