One thing Holland is famous for is bicycles. It is a very flat country so they make sense. Everywhere you go in Amsterdam you see bikes. One of the most amazing sites for me was the massive bike parking area near the central train station. It is several floors high and packed. This is a time of year in Amsterdam most tourists don't see. Even the seedy part of town shortens it hours and the little rooms in the red-light district are all empty. It's pretty dreary. I passed through on my way to visit my father before he passed away otherwise it was a season I would have missed. It was cold and rainy. It was not the cheerful active place I've visited in the summer. Very few people were about and it was early morning. A great time to get my photo series Amsterdam in November. Each one in the series has a black and white version, but I also have some in color and sepia. There is a lot more where this came from. Take a look in my gallery.
