Twelve intersections of sphere pairs whose centers exactly touch (a sort of three-dimensional vesica piscis) positioned on the midpoints of the faces of a dodecahedron, form the elements of this image. I was actually enroute to precisely positioning these intersections parallel to each of the twelve faces, and discovered this interesting image while rendering a preliminary study. I liked the serendipitous effect that these twelve lenticular shapes created enough to do a colossal size, and here it is! :-) The background images refracted through the lenses are: a mirrored grid of the rings of Saturn, and a hexagonal grid of a twirled blossom at a botanical garden on Maui. Wonderful!
I olve the play of the background and the way it feels very "active" for lack of a better term.
