There ought to be tens and maybe hundreds of thousands...it's a wilderness after all, not private property...I hear they're talking about doing away with the yearly Alaskan Oil welfare handout anyway ;).

You must be one of those environmentalists that have NO idea what the caribou situation is here. Like, that thousands migrate every year. That they calve around the pipeline because it is warmer. Seriously! That caribou was probably the victim of wolves or a bear.
