Cayo Heuso

Top Picks

Cayo Heuso, Isle of Bones - Key West. Rich in history, magnificent tropical island 90 miles north of Cuba, the southernmost point in the continental USA, mile marker zero.
This quaint island is only 2 x 4 miles in size. Connected to the mainland by a series of bridges called the Overseas Highway. Originally Flagler opened Key West to tourist by his railroad and hotel The Casa Marina (still a first class resort). Ernest Hemingway made his home here, Presidents Truman, Kennedy and others vacationed here.
Over the years industries have included diving and salvaging ship wrecks, sponging, fishing & canning green turtles and Cuban cigar making. The military calls key West one of it's homes and today tourism is the primary industry.
Mel Fisher is renowned for discovering and salvaging three ships from the Spanish Armada - the most famous being the Atochia. The gold and treasure found on board made him a millionaire!
These images are of this beautiful island I call home. From the ships and boats that hale from the island, to the quaint architecture based on shipbuilding, I hope you find the same joy I do in sites of Cayo Heuso!
