About Chernobyl Children's Project International

Real name: Chernobyl Children's Project International
Operates out of: Northport, New York, United States
Describes themself as:

Chernobyl Children's Project International (CCPI) restores hope to communities in Chernobyl-affected regions of Belarus and Ukraine. Our work with the children of Belarus was featured in HBO's Academy-Award winning film,Chernobyl Heart.

A grassroots effort started in Ireland by Adi Roche's Chernobyl Children's Project International, we are now an international partnership movement of volunteers, professionals, businesses, governments and communities in Belarus, Ukraine, the United State and Ireland. We collaborate to overcome the domino affect of poverty, poor health, and social upheaval that makes it difficult for communities -- especially vulnerable children -- to move on with hope.

Here is a film of our volunteers at work:

In 2006, we were awarded "Special Congressional Recognition" for "outstanding humanitarian work to aid children affected by the Chernobyl catastrophe," and we have been featured on CNN, the CBS Early Morning Show and others. We have addressed the United Nations General Assembly, and testified before US Congress and the Helsinki Committee.

We are a 501(c)3 non profit organization, and we are a United Nations-recognized NGO. Donations to Chernobyl Children's Project International are tax deductible. Our EIN# is 75-3011839.
