Only in Lebanon is there a shaky alliance. Christians are considered Dhimmi and must pay non-believer taxes, and are considered less than, in courts, as officials, etc... Every few years, a violent persecution dwindles the numbers again, and again... Keeping it real.

So aside from Egypt's oppressed coptic christans, I'm close. That article, being very informative, pretty much states the overall persecution of christians, that they are being bombed, terrorised, not allowed to evangelise, build new churches. Please read that article thoroughly, in all Muslim states, Christians are oppressed and declining. Lebanon was created by France for Christians in the Middle East, but again the Muslims come in, and through oppressive breeding, terrorism, church bombings, Hezbollah, civil wars, Syrian assassinations... I'm sorry but can you show me a nation in the Middle East that is not decimiting it's Christians?

Number of Christians in the Middle East is about 18 .million .It is home to the world most ancient Christian churches - which has been existing without any break in the area .

from wiki, is this true? "No foreign missionary groups operate openly in the country but in 2008 the government allowed some churches to conduct mass. In March 2008 the Roman Catholic church “Our Lady of the Rosary” was consecrated in Doha." And is it merely for the non-citizen immigrant temp-workers? In the Middle East, Christianity was born & spread with no armies, Islam rose as desert marauders. There is no Christian tradition because of Islamic conquest: convert, submit, or kill.

I live in the Middle East .Last month a big church was opened with 2000 seats though there is no any Christian tradition or heritage here in Doha
I just wonder where do you get your figures from .
Local women cover themselves here -that is true and go to work and divorce if they are fed up .They are more educated than their fellow men .You may forget about the stereotypes .Their grandmothers used to depend on men -but most of the women nowadays either working or rich enough to have an independent life .
The situation of women and Christians is different from country to country ..There is no such thing that "Middle East " situation .

'warmonger' is the first sign you are not objective or trusting with your comment. and wikipedia, is a volunteer website and should not be 'trusted' outright, but read sure. and i'm not far off. in all muslim dominate nations of the middle east, christians & jews are being systematically decimated. through sharia laws, through muslim polygamy & female enslavement, and through terror. Jordan was once christian dominate, but after civil wars, it has dwindled again and again.

To get a more objective view in this issue one should not base his knowledge on warmonger's propaganda -but to gain information on more trusted sources .http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_Christians
