Common Rebels (aka YOU KNOW) started way back in 2004.
We were the first indie business to sell the now hugely popular pocket mirrors. Starting with one of a kind images made from the pages of vintage kid's books and old magazines, we soon took the plunge and ventured into licensing. We started contacting all of our favorite artists and were happy that most of them said yes! Back in the day we were called My Favorite Mirror, because that's all we ever thought we'd make.
In less than a year, Kellee decided she really wanted to start making mouse pads, because who else out there wanted to make their desk a little more fun to sit at? SO MANY PEOPLE!
We took a brief hiatus, in which we grew a completely different business where we made many amazing things all from recycled books. Oddly enough, we found a stash of night lights that we had purchased (but never did anything with) during our MFM days and popped some vintage storybook art inside. We took those 20 night lights to a craft show and found that people seemed to like them.
After YEARS of hard work and research, we finally found a supplier for night light parts. We decided to circle back to art licensing, this time instead of mirrors, we'd do the coolest night lights we could. And here we are today.
Of course we couldn't resist doing the mouse pads and coasters again. And soon enough we'll be making all kinds of other goodies, too, I'm sure. We love to surround ourselves with cute, useful things and we hope you do, too!
