Photomechanical print of College Green in Dublin, Ireland, which was taken towards the end of the 19th century. College Green, known as Faiche an Choláiste in Gaelic, is a three-sided square in the centre of Dublin. The photograph takes in the view of Dame Street, towards Trinity College and shows the equestrian statue of King William of Orange ("Billy") on horseback, which was blown up by Irish republicans in the 1930s. Soldiers can be seen marching in the lower left corner of the image. Photograph courtesy of the Library of Congress LC-DIG-ppmsc-009879.
