Makeshift container garden on balcony in McleodGanj, north India. The locals are thrifty, using discarded water bottles, cooking oil containers, and cans to hold their plantings of geraniums, tomatoes, peppers and other edible and decorative plants. These miniature makeshift container gardens pop up in the most unlikely places, adding even more color to the chaotic scene.
McleodGanj is a hill station in the Dhauladhar Range of the Himalayas, exile home of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for more than half a century, along with a few thousand Tibetan refugees.
Original travel photography by Tammy Winand, who calls McleodGanj (upper Dharamsala) her second home.
