Quarter plate daguerreotype; visible image 2 ⅞ x 3 ⅞ in. Preserver: decorative. Pad: embossed red velvet. Case: leather; 4 ¾ x 3 ¾ in. Motif: geometric. Posed in front of the log cabin is a lone miner flanked by supplies and equipment. This mirror image documents the cooperative effort required to bring precious water to the gold fields. By Joseph Blaney Starkweather in 1852.
