Do Ones Best
Japanese 4 Kanji idiom meaning to "do ones best". Pronounced as "I Shou Ken Mei", its roots are with the samurai in the Kamakura period (1185-1333 AD) of Japanese history when it originally meant to protect one's fief and way of life with one's life. After the defeat of feudalism, the phrase changed to its modern meaning, to "do ones best".
