Dolly Laundry Two-Tone Coffee Mug
A Busy Day in Dollville -a Little Girl's Life What a gorgeous illustration of a little girl doing her dolly's laundry. A woman's work is never done! In fact, this little girl is dying some clothing to make it red, the perfect doll dress color! Such an old fashioned image--and incredibly dangerous for a little girl to be left alone to boil a pot of dye. The illustration was originally a Diamond Dyes advertisement from 1911. The little blonde girl has a lovely blue dress on, while she's working on her pot of red dye and holding her little doll's dress over the hot dye. Her dollies are in the background, watching the little girl as if approving of a new dress! About the Vintage Little Girl Illustration The artwork is done by illustrator Bessie Pease Gutmann, who was known for her children, animals, and fruit illustrations. It was created for Diamond Dyes and placed on tin signs and trays.
