Living in a small town in rural Pennsylvania can have it's postives and negatives. Being bored happens too often, and I am always left trying to find something to do. Thankfully for me, this negative has now turned into a positive.
One beautiful summer afternoon, I found myself with little to do. I began calling my friends trying to see if any of them wanted to hang out. To my chagrin, I found out they all had plans for this glorious day, while i was left stranded at home. I began wondering to myself what I could do to give my friends and I a common place we could all come to when we felt bored, or needed something to do. So, while browsing various Internet websites, I came to Yahoo! and saw an advertisement for "Free Fantasy Football". I immediately began to think of all of the possible fun that my friends and I could have while playing this game, becuse it brings us all together and we would get to boast our frivolous sports knowledge upon one another. I began developing the league, and the now infamous league name. EphrataFantasyStars was thought of by thinking of our common place of residence, and what we would all eventually become, fantasy stars. I then began making the stat categories and point distribution for each category. I wanted a high-scoring, fun-loving, pass-happy type of league that would make the matchups exciting and the point totals hard to add up. So, I made the league a points-per-reception league (PPR). We then had our first ever online draft as a league for the 2005-2006 Fantasy Football season. We now hold an Annual Offline Fantasy Draft for both Fantasy Football and Fantasy Baseball. This will most likely expand to Fantasy Hockey and Fantasy Basketball as well in the upcoming seasons. Dress code for such events is as follows: either a shirt and tie, suit, any kind of formal wear, or a jersey of some sort. All in all, EphrataFantasyStars has seen its fair share of participants, but only a select few can have the honor of being mentioned in the same breath as the renowned EphrataFantasyStars Fantasy Sports crew. |
