Eugene Grasset Pochoir Print, Buttercup
Eugene Grasset Pochoir Print, Buttercup
These stunning Pochoir Prints by Eugène Grasset was published in 1896. Very few art sellers have the full collection of all plates, and we have them all---the original printing, first edition of the 1896 book of plates was gifted to me by a dear art collector friend--and I am thrilled to be able to share them with you. You will not find the full collection or the top-notch, museum quality elsewhere. Since the book is pristine, even individual original plates being sold for $200.00 and up will not reach the level of this quality. Eugène Grasset's creations are the cornerstones of Art Nouveau patterns and motifs. Many of the images have been reproduced by others, but these are first generation, museum quality scans rendered by a half a million dollar professional scanner, such as those used in professional art corporations and museums. The dramatically vivid colors were created by the “pochoir” process, wherein single layers of color were added by hand to a lithograph using a stencil, in a precursor of the silk screening technique which is now widely used for art prints. Rendered in 2400 dpi, each print is from a pristine, first-edition 1896 folio in incredible condition. Each flower in the collection is given three prints: a rendering of the actual plant, patterns utilizing that plant, and designs for decorative items with the plant's motif. The colors are very fresh and vibrant and are a must for any Art Nouveau or Botanical fine art enthusiast.
