Evening Shower at Atake Postcard
This Japanese color print was created by Ichiyusai Hiroshige in the 19th Century. The full name of the print is: "Evening Shower at Atake and the Great Bridge". This Japanese print is from the famous series: One Hundred Famous Views of Edo" (Meisho Yedo Hiakkei). In it we see a few Japanese workers crossing a large bridge, while a storm is raging, and a lot of rain is falling. They're covering themselves with straw hats, coats and perhaps umbrellas. In the background we also see a Japanese sailor on a canoe like boat crossing the river. The sky is quite dark because of the storm, and it's too dark to see the forests behind. The artist has also signed this artwork in Kanji characters and Hiragana (Japanese writing).
