Eye of Horus Print
by Sonia_JensenAncient Egyptian Hieroglyph
According to Egyptian legend, Horus (also known as Ra), who had the head of a falcon and was the solar and sky god, was in a great fight with his uncle Seth in order to avenge his father's death. During that fight, Seth tore out the left eye of Horus, but after Horus was declared the winner, the god Thoth magically restored the eye. Horus then gave the eye to Osiris (his father), who was reborn in the underworld.
Since that day, the left Eye of Horus has been worn as an amulet to bring safety, health, wisdom and prosperity to the owner. It has also come to be known as the "All Seeing Eye". The Eye of Horus has also been used as a funeral amulet and painted on the tomb walls of the pyramids to ensure the re-birth of the dead and to ward off evil.
