Friends For Steven Pediatric Cancer Foundation is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization raising money and awareness in the battle against pediatric cancer. Our group was formed in 1997 in honor of Steven Newkirk, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at age 5. Neuroblastoma accounts for 14% of all cancers in children younger than 5 years of age. It is an aggressive pediatric cancer diagnosed in approximately 600 children per year in the U.S.; sadly, fewer than 30% survive. Like so many other children diagnosed with aggressive neuroblastoma, Steven lost his courageous battle 2-1/2 years after his diagnosis. Friends For Steven Pediatric Cancer Foundation is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, which directly supports ongoing research for new treatments and the search for a cure.
