Dec. 7.-The Eastern States, reputed to be the largest and most modern side-whee! passenger boat on the great lakes and built for the Detroit and Buffalo Navigation Company was launched to-day from the Detroit Shipbuilding Company's ways at Wyandotte. Mich. The boat is 366 feet over all, 45 feet beam, and 19 1/2 feet deep. She will have a passenger capacIty of 3,500. In about a month the Western States, an exact duplicate and sister ship, will be launched at the same place. Both boats will be put on the Detroit and Buffalo route next season.
