Celebrate the most remote piece of land on Earth in its 50th anniversary as a part of the United States: August 1959-August 2009. This design features the yellow Hibiscus, Hawaii's state flower, chosen in 1988 over other colors since the yellow variety is native to the iHawaiian Islands. When Hawaii was just a territory of the united States, no specific color was designated. Thus a lot of Hawaiian art features the red hibiscus as well.
