Welcome to A Touch of History

HD's Favorites

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you'll take a few minutes to look around, and don't forget to look at everything -- not just the front page. As you may notice, there is a definite theme to this gallery, and that is history -- although I may, from time to time, offer non-historical items.

I am, in real life, a retired telephone company supervisor who now divides my time between my two greatest passions – history and literature. I am actively involved in the Civil War community and am past-president of the Greater Toledo Civil War Roundtable. Proceeds from sales support the Roundtable's activities.

I am also fascinated with Ancient and Medieval history, and am a card-carrying member of the Richard III Society, American Branch.

As an enthusiastic student of the American Civil War, most of the items I am currently creating bear images relating to this period. Some are created using vintage prints and paintings long out of copyright, while others are made using photographs I have taken while visiting battlefields and monuments.

Honor their memory! Honor their sacrifice!

In addition to a fascination with history, I am also a voracious reader whose tastes range from non-fiction to fiction, from first-hand accounts of Civil War soldiers, to Gothic Victorian literature, and to modern-day paranormal romances. I am particularly fascinated by the Phantom of the Opera phenomenon. My love of all things Phantom began many years ago when, as a teenager, I fell in love with Claude Rains as Erique Claudin.

The rest, as they say, is history.

If you, too, are interested in "phantomy" things, I invite you to visit The Write Stuff Gallery also on Zazzle. There, my good friend Lizzy and I have created an eclectic variety of products, a number of which are Phantom related.
