If her mother were alive, this little baby who is just a few months old would be high in the trees in a leafy nest, enjoying her vegetarian meals. She and over 350 other orphans are under the care of Orangutan Foundation International on the island of Borneo (Indonesia), one of the two islands where orangutans are found in the wild.

Rebbecca, this dear little Orangutan Baby has stolen my heart.

Airin is such a precious little one and your photo of her has captured her sweet, trusting nature. I'm going to add the Orangutan Foundation to my list of charities I donate to. I try to keep my list smallish because I want to make a difference and not just donate tiny amounts to many groups. But this one is definintely going to be included from now on.

Airin would you give you a wonderful hug, Zenyaris!!

In this photo, she is playing in the "preschool/kindergarten" area built by the Australian Project. It's a wonderful, covered area with swings, climbing ropes, and large tires on stands to substitute as the nests their mothers would have built for them and to help the orphans learn how to shape branches and leaves into nests.

Her name is Airin (pronounced Erin), and it always thrills me to see little orphans that are as feisty as she.Her muzzle that looks wrinkled is as soft as velvet
