Les Fleurs de Hilo (Flowers of Hilo) This watercolor was painted with a .99 cent paint kit I carried in my purse on my vacation to the Big Island of Hawaii. I became captivated with this bouquet at the Hilo Farmer's Market.
They inspired me to no end and I had to try with the kiddy paints. (all I had at the time)
The life at the Hilo farmer's market was rustic and a neighborhood family feeling. There were so many of these lovely arrangements for incredibly inexpensive. We were headed north to a luxury condo where the giant incredible floral arrangements grace the hotels. This little handmade charmer sat in our beautiful room for a week and gave me such happy feelings of those friendly Hilo folks. It turned out to be a lesson in how inexpensive beauty is and how beautiful feelings have nothing to do with money spent.
but for sure they are there now. This is lovely, and I particularly enjoy the fact that you have several different colors of anthuriums. How fun to know that you painted this with a 99 cent watercolor kit. 5*
