I'd Rather Be Spelunking T-shirt
I'd Rather be Spelunking T-shirt : This vintage artwork is called Two Skeletons in a Cave by Caspar David Friedrich circa 1826. It is one of my favorite vintage skeleton art because it looks so deceptively modern. It has a great warm rocky look to all the rock formations and the lighting in the cave and positions of the skeletons almost looks more like they are laying out relaxing on the beach catching some rays than mouldering away in a cave to me. Caspar generally is considered the most important artist of his time/ generation. He was known for his landscapes and for diminishing the presence /impact of man in preference to nature. He tried to convey an emotional response to nature in his works.
