Irises (1889) by Van Gogh is a vintage Post Impressionism fine art floral nature painting featuring a group of purple bearded irises and a single white iris flower growing in a garden. It was one of his first paintings while he was at the asylum in Saint-Remy-de-Provence. In 1987 it became the most expensive painting ever sold.
