This Japanese color print was made in the 18th century by Isoda Koryusai (1764 - 1788). The name in Japanese is: "Hinagata Wakana no Hatsu Moyo". In it we see a Japanese lady and her two attendents, all dressed in beautifully designed long flowing kimonos with pretty flower designs. The lady is also carrying some sort of coat or scarf depicting a fish swimming upstream or into a waterfall. The Japanese artist mostly used light colors in this print - beige, brown, white and black. As was the custom in Japan Isoda Koryusai signed his name in Kanji characters and Hiragana (Japanese writing).
