The jackalope is one of the rarest animals in western North America. Their primary habitat is open prairie where they can feed safely on native grasses. The jackalope has keen eyes with exceptional hearing, making them one of the least-seen animals in the wild, although mounted individuals are common in bars and general stores throughout the West. Most sightings have been reported on the first day of April every year.
