Orangutans are an endangered species. This animal calendar is a delightful collection of wildlife photographs taken in Indonesia, (island of Borneo) featuring a few of the hundreds of orangutan orphans that Orangutan Foundation International (O.F.I.) nurtures and prepares for eventual release into protected areas of the rain forest. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Some of the orphans have to overcome years of mistreatment as illegal pets. Note the scar around the neck of the youngster in November's picture! A few other tidbits about these youngsters : the young , squinty-eyed male for May is blind in one eye and has only partial sight in the other due to injuries he sustained as his mother was killed. The joyous "pole dancer" for February's photo is holding on to the trunk of what is actually a small tree in the rain forest. The branches are long gone, and the wood has been worn smooth by the youngsters climbing up and sliding down. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

100% of the artist's profit from this calendar is used to buy food for the orphans at the OFI Care Center on the island of Borneo.

Thanks Ulrika -- it's been on my mind as well.

I have been so busy trying to promote awareness about the rainforest habitat and raising money for OFI that I have not had as much time as I would like to organize recent photos into another calendar. I appreciate your visit -- as well as the fact that you adopted an orangutan through O.F.I.'s program at www.orangutan.org

each page finding its way to our heart and soul and i feel anger with this people who mistreat animals and i feel admiration with people who take care of them with love and try to make them forget humans crualty with tons of love !!! wonderful calendar Rebecca :):):)
