I live only about an hour away and go there often. I thought this picture was REAL when I first saw it. Your excellent attention to the smallest details really makes all of your images, especially this one, amazing! I love the old cars and the 'dreary NY day' feel of this image. Spectactular!

or close enough. This had me when I visited your site a couple of years ago...I stared and stared until I found slight (very slight mind you) nuances. Then I gained a whole new respect for you and your works of detail and time as I was no longer looking at a photo but a really well done render on a realism scale I couldn't touch. Then you showed the making of it.....amazing!

good exposure good light
I like that light over an afternoon end with a soft rain or english fog at background. I didnt like that monsterous building like background cause it break an harmony beetwin the cars and the walker passing with umbrella at right side. Cut off 1/3 of picture from bottom to top of it,that will make it a landscape one and it'll make hightlight to walker and car like main focus of the picture

This is perhaps the foremost piece of modern art of our times. The fantastic sense of isolation within a crowd, accentuated by both the human figure with the umbrella, and indeed the bird, is remarkable. In this way, it demonstrates the potential for individuality of spirit, irrespective of surroundings. It has a definate style - the intent must certainly have been to create the appearence of a painting in the photorealistic style, with the glossy reflections, and the simultaneous depiction of the mundane and the sublime. Beyond this, Gilles Tran is a technical master - there are perhaps a handful of people alive who could match his skill. When we put all these things together, it is clear that this image should have a place in our artistic heritage. Even if this never comes to be, those of us who have seen it will be the richer for the experience.
