In "Spirits Take Flight", I combine the horse and the golden eagle in a composition that portrays them as one being, sharing their wild beauty and dynamic power. Great horses are often referred to as having the look of eagles. In the Koran the horse is referred to as having the power of flight without wings. In addition to these historical inspirations, I intuitively embrace the Native American vision of the connection of all life, and the power of animal spirit totems. ~ Kim McElroy
