About this design
Mayan Maya Aztec Container for a Rainy Day Candy Dish
Mayan Maya Aztec Container for a Rainy Day
The ancient Mayan calendar was based upon a system which dates back to the 5th Century BC and possibly earlier. This is a prophetic calendar which is more about the flow of creation than it is about time. Nonetheless, this calendar ends in the year 2012 and the world is taking note. This actal date is December 21st, 2012 and it's the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in Mayan Cosmology.

Many people believe this predicts the end of the world. They say our planet will be hit by an asteroid bigger than our planet and time will cease to exist. To others, this important artifact of the ancient Maya peoples ending in 2012 marks an end of an age and the beginning of a new cycle of life. On a more humorous note, I've seen two comics about this Mayan calendar suggesting the artist/stone carver simply ran out of room when they reached the year 2012. What are your thoughts on the meaning of the Mayan Calendar?
