Ok, what is culture all about? Weird word for a company, I’ve always thought. It’s also pretty funny how these things are written in the 3rd person, detached from any persona. So I’ll disclose that my name is Jeff Beaver, I’m one of the founders of Zazzle, and I’m personally going to tell you what the culture of Zazzle is about. Admittedly, I’m very biased, but I’m almost 80% sure that this is accurate.

Here’s the deal. It’s all about the people. There’s other fun stuff like food, amenities, and mimosas every morning, but it’s basically this simple – the people define a company’s culture. We’re lucky enough to be surrounded by extraordinary individuals, from all different backgrounds, skill sets, and perspectives, all bound by the passion and commitment to do something special. Something different. Perhaps even a little risky.

We’re going out on a limb and doing something that actually hasn’t been done before. And we truly believe in self-expression, the power of small teams, and creating solutions that empower creative folks to make real money from their own passions.

If Zazzle was a dog, it would be one crazy mutt. We’ve got folks with PhD’s in Computer Science; Master Degrees in Chemistry and Physics; professional artists and graphic designers; national physics champions; entrepreneurs; manufacturing gurus; college dropouts; Black belts in 6-Sigma (no, not the karate kind), lean manufacturing and Kaizen; and even an advanced degree in Horticulture or two. We’re all over the place, but one thing is in common amongst all: Zazzlers are passionate about what they do and they’re driven to make a difference.

I’m lucky and proud to have the opportunity to come to work every day and be constantly surprised by the sheer genius of the people around me. I can't wait until rest of the world has the opportunity witness our potential. Zazzle has the opportunity to change things.

Stay tuned, folks. We’re burning the midnight oil on some cool new stuff.
