Mourning Postage
This is a picture of mine rendered digitally thru a filter to make This lovely cemetery mourner statue is thought to perhaps be carrying an urn or tear jar. Tear jars are an ancient tradition from Greece where water was held as precious and giving up water from ones body, when crying tears for the dead was considered a sacrifice. They caught these tears in tiny pitchers. The tears became holy and were used to ward off evil and sickness. It is an interesting an unique piece of statuary and creates an interesting fall scene for your postage.
