Na Bolom is a Mexican based non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1951 by the Danish Archaeologist and explorer Frans Blom (1893-1963) and the Swiss conservationist and photographer Gertrude Duby Blom (1901-1993). Na Bolom is an interactive complex that houses a museum, cultural centre, guest house, restaurant, artisan centre and research facilities located within an historic monument originally built to accomodate a religious seminary in 1898. The centre operates with a multinational staff of 35 people and an international volunteer program. Na Bolom is located in the highlands of Chiapas in the community of San Cristobal de Las Casas.
The Na Bolom gallery on Zazzle features works of art taken from the rare photo archive of Na Bolom founder Gertrude Duby Blom. Her work, which spans from 1940 to 1980, documents this unique region with its ancient Maya ruins, Spanish architecture, and indigenous people, in particular the Lacandon Maya. All proceeds from gallery sales go to the many important projects initiated by Na Bolom, including medical services for indigenous communities, support for artisan businesses, youth empowerment and education, environmental education and sustainable development, to name a few.
