During world war two the "V" for Victory symbol helped rally the Allies to victory over fascism.
After the 9/11 attacks I updated it by covering the hand with The Red, White and Blue and The Stars of the American Flag as a way to keep us from ever forgetting the horror that was visited on America that day. It is also a way of showing support for the men and women of The United States military who fight every day in the struggle to defeat terrorism around the world so that America will be safe and remain the Land of the Free.
I am proud to say that a T-shirt with this design on it was worn in Baghdad in 2004 by a member of the 101st Airborne Division.
