By preventing accountability for the deplorable Bush-Cheney crimes, we will have set a precedent for acceptance of illegal, inhuman acts by our top officials. Effectively, we will have established a full impunity for our executive branch to commit war atrocities at whim. Absent the threat of legal consequence, our next rogue president will enjoy freedom to wage unprovoked invasion, occupation, torture, and slaughter upon other nations. All of the detriment that ensues from such acts will once again devastate America, and the world. Yet Mr. Obama seems willing to permit this inviting vulnerability to stand. We must insist that members of the Bush cabal be held accountable for their actions!
