She had been grabbing slices of watermelon from the OFI caretakers just as fast as she possibly could! That's why - with a touch of humor- I made the caption of "Buy me more melon."

The cause, however, is actually a serious one as there are over 350 orphaned orangutans in the same Care Center as this sweet youngster. The costs are staggering to feed and care for them. The areas for the tiny infants must also be staffed around the clock. In addition, OFI is actively involved in buying hectares of land to be preserved as protected rain forest for release of orangutans who eventually are old enough to care for themselves.
